Our story

The OrangeMoon Artisan Tea, started in 2020, because we believe that a history of access to wellness concepts has caused a lack of information about self care and prevention in communities we care about. So, we decided to develop a series of teas, using our proprietary blends based on traditional and culturally sourced herbal remedies to help improve your health and reduce the risk of social related disease.

Michelle Mitchum, Founder

Growing up in a marginalized community, I realized that access to information about wellness, personal care and disease prevention was not easily accessible.  Social related diseases like depression, obesity, high blood pressure, etc. contribute to high mortality rates within these communities, and as a health equality advocate and practitioner, I am passionate about playing a part in improving health outcomes within them.

Using my knowledge of Chinese medicine and travels around the world, I’ve created a series of proprietary herbal blends to bring wellness and personal care into these communities, because there are simple things that we can all do, like drinking a delicious cup of  tea….to help us stay healthy, reduce stress, focus on our dreams and thrive.

Pop-Up Cafe at Baby Jane’s Brooklyn, NY

An estimated 1M deaths in the US annually can be attributed to social factors like poverty, low levels of education, racial discrimination and economic inequality.  And people who live in underserved communities are 20% more likely to die from preventable diseases like obesity, heart disease and stroke.

Because of statistics like this, we created a pop-up wellness cafe to bring our teas and other offering into these communities and support resources to help keep families healthy and informed.
